The Physiology of Stress
The impacts of stress and trauma exposure are becoming increasingly evident from an individual's mental and physical health to an entire organisation's wellbeing. To avoid a 'one-size-fits-all' approach to health, safety and wellbeing, perspective is needed on the wide range of thoughts and behaviours that traumatic events or prolonged stress can cause.
When we have an understanding of how the stress response works in our own body systems, we gain empathy for others and better relationships, strengthen team dynamics and improve performance in the face of challenge and change.
Topics covered:
the differences of physiological stress patterns across individuals
tools for improved stress management and protocols for teams
foundational systems for psychological safety and trauma informed practices within an organization
Emotional Intelligence 101
The beginning is a very good place to start! Emotional Intelligence doesn’t have to be fluffy ‘let’s talk about our feelings’ - it can be a very practical and useful guide to better self leadership, stronger connections and improved wellbeing.
This talk provides an overview of EI and its skill sets while allowing plenty of time to interact with real life scenarios.
Topics covered:
Self Awareness and Self Expression
Stress Tolerance
Interpersonal Connection
Decision Making and Unconscious Bias
Widen the Lense
Taking the time to see others perspectives is a crucial step in improving a workplace culture, interpersonal connections and our greater wellbeing. This can look like asking better questions, listening with intention and noticing when we have blinders on. Coming to the conclusion that we can never assume how someone else is feeling or what they are thinking frees up a ton of extra bandwidth for us all!
Topics covered:
Unconscious bias and blind spots
Learning to see what you can’t see
Tools for zoom-ing out
Evidence based data on the importance of perspective taking
Why In The Moment?
In the Moment Co was created in a rock bottom moment from which there was a massive discrepancy between what was needed on the inside and what was seen from the outside. A perceived identity of health and wellbeing became a mask of toxic positivity and ‘she’ll be rights’.
She was not alright…
Now, using the skills of emotional intelligence and science of stress, ITM offers real time tools for actionable change in those who are experiencing high distress and trauma exposure in order to lead their teams better, recover faster and live life to the fullest.
With no fluffy stuff.
